Fried PBJ & banana oreos. Last week, Texans learned the State Fair of Texas was officially cancelled for the year 2020 😭. To say this is a tragedy would be putting it mildly. So, in honor of the joy I feel every year that I attend, here is a mash-up of my 2 favorite fried fair foods: 1) fried Elvis (PBJ sandwich with banana), and 2) fried oreos. The sweet creme was replaced with peanut butter, banana discs were encased in the middle, Jiffy Mixes for the batter (for a corny dog-esque crunch!), and served with warmed up jelly. Surprisingly, these are not very sweet, once the center is omitted! I also fried up some traditional oreos for the sake of nostalgia. Who else is drinking a green smoothie for dinner 🤦♀️?
